Job Title: Senior Project Engineer, SURF (Subsea Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines)
Description
Plan, define, scope and deliver onshore and subsea oil & gas flowlines, pipelines, cables and infrastructure projects that meet the expectations of stakeholders, on time, within budget and to the right quality
- Provide specialist expertise in the area of pipeline engineering
- Identify and secure resources needed for project deliver
- Deliver the technical elements (front-end engineering, design, procurement, installation and commissioning) of onshore and/or offshore oil & gas pipelines required to realise the value of a business opportunity, on schedule, within budget, and to the right quality.
- Deliver the technical elements (front-end engineering, design, procurement, installation and commissioning) of onshore composite power/fibre-optic cables and/or subsea umbilicals, conveying electrical/hydraulic power, air, fibre-optic, chemicals etc, as may be required. This should be accomplished on schedule, within budget, and to the right quality
- To achieve project objectives, manage all key stakeholders on whom project success depends; draw on resources within or outside the company as may be necessary.
- Manage the project team, including resources that may be seconded from support functions
- Maintain a risk register and actively manage identified risks to protect investment value
- Keep the line Manager and Senior Management informed of the status of key aspects of the project, highlighting potential issues that may require Senior Management intervention
- Work through relevant support functions to secure all needed statutory approvals, ensuring that all aspects of the project are carried out in compliance with the governing law and company guidelines
- Hand over the completed project to the appropriate Operations Manager, with relevant documentation and initial operating spares
- Close out project upon completion (or interim completion) in line with company process
Requirements
- A good university degree in engineering
- Minimum of 12 years post-graduation experience in oil and gas facilities engineering, which must include not less than 5 years of pipelines/cables project engineering/management, preferably in the shallow offshore terrain.
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills
- Understanding of various interfacing disciplines – core and supporting, that are required for successful project execution
- Ability to develop and work with project plans and schedules including associated cost profiles
- Knowledge of the marketplace and impact of same on project execution strategies
- Understanding of project reporting requirements of various stakeholders and ability to generate same
- Ability to identify project risks in a timely manner and to develop strategies for managing them
- Good communication skills
